One useful future addition is to either have an "insert or update" option or have the ability to not fail if an insert fails. This way I could insert into the database but not fail if the record was already inserted by hand.

JPA is the next planned ORM integration which Cayenne is planning to implement, so that mapping method will be supported for sure.

Cayenne-specific support would depend on the user interest level and/or someone looking to implement support.

Any plans to add support for Cayenne?
I think cayenne3 has some sort of changes support already, but it woudl be interesting if liquibase could do the job.

Thank you,

Demetrios.

Hibernate support sounds interesting, this would reduce the effort of creating changesets.

I agree with everything you said. There is another issue, too. Databases are fundamentally different from programs because they cannot evolve. Evolution operates on a population by newer, hopefully better generations replacing older ones. This is an excellent analogy in code but not in databases. I am starting a series of articles called Rethinking Agility in Databases to address topics like the ones you've mentioned an others.

Max Guernsey, III
Managing Member, Hexagon Software LLC
